SHORT TRUE STORY ONE OF MANY
Just another trip down memory lane .

Was in Burma 1971 staying at the Strand Hotel which was run by an Armenian

There was only one night club which was full of military and civil police and of course Coastal guys and apparently a son of General Ne Win, well the Australian guy Might have been Des hooked up with this girl at the club who was apparently with the son and when we left he me and the girl were chased through the streets back to the Strand by 2 guys on a motor cycle waving a gun we were in the back of one of those 3 wheel taxis.

Spoke to the manager at the hotel and described the incident, In the morning big bang at my hotel room door opened it to find about 4 great big guys all dressed like Idi Amin all in uniform and covered in gold braid. not a word was uttered they grabbed my arm and marched me out of the hotel to three large black saloon cars and drove me to the local precinct at this stage did not have a clue as to what was going on.

Arrived at the police station and was ushered into a large room more like a hall I was then told to sit in this throne like chair at one end in the centre it was then explained that they did not want an international incident because of the guns and the work we were doing in Burma. they then want on to say that I should mete out the punishment for these 2 guys to resolve the issue. At that moment these 2 guys came into the room on their hands and knees and crawled across the room to kneel in front of me where I carefully reduced one to the ranks and the other to have is motor cycle taken from him that ended the matter and I was driven back to
the hotel.
