About Me

My name is Timothy Abel and I am a 26-year-old Bachelor of Psychology graduate from Newcastle, Australia. I entered the United Kingdom on August 6th on a two-year, Tier 5 - Youth Mobility Visa following 18-months working Full/Permanent Part-Time as a Support Facilitator, providing case management for those with severe and persistent mental illness in regional Australia. While this work was continuously rewarding and allowed me to grow so much professionally, it also afforded me the freedom to pursue my passions in life, the creative arts in particular. As I begin this new chapter of my life in the United Kingdom, I am eager to (metaphorically) throw myself head-first into the industry that has captivated me for so long.

I have unpaid experience both in front of and behind the camera featuring mostly in music videos and short films. I have acted as the lead in a number of dramatic and comedic shorts and am comfortable and confident in front of camera. I have a keen interest in writing for screen and particular comedy and hope to eventually transfer a project of mine to the big screen. I am also a singer-songwriter and am comfortable performing in front of crowds of various sizes.

I have performed as the singer of bands of various sizes in unpaid roles as well as performing as a solo musicians for crowds of various sizes for paid and unpaid gigs. I have sung and played guitar since the age of 13 and continue to work on music today with a keen interest in recording and production as well as my work as a singer-songwriter.

General Experience

I have worked various roles since beginning my working life at a video store at age 15. I most recently worked full-time as a 'Support Facilitator' assisting those with severe and persistent mental illness on their road to recovery. In this role I monitored a client case load of around 20 participants and was responsible for maintaining an online client database system, tracking the progress of each participant.

Prior to this I worked in a hospitality role at a large venue for approximately 5 years during which time I held multiple different positions, all of which focussed on customer service.

Outside of my professional life I have also worked on a number of music videos of my own production for competitions as well as written and worked behind and in front of camera for multiple short films.

Qualifications & Training

I am a Bachelor of Psychology graduate from the University of Newcastle. I have also received training in suicide prevention, professional case-noting, trauma informed care & persuasion and influence.

Apart from my amateur acting ability I am experienced singer & guitar player. I also performed card magic multiple times over the past few years for small crowds. I have played football, rugby, and cricket at various levels for the past 15 years and am reasonably co-ordinated and able to pick up & learn new tasks quickly.

Interests & Hobbies

I have a keen interest in singing and performing (as explained above), photography and filmmaking, writing, music production, and acting.

I am also an avid sports lover, having played multiple sports from an early age including rugby (union and league), cricket, football, basketball, and american football.

I also love to play video and board games and have experience playing in low level video game competitions.
