About Me
Hello, My real name is Shay but my stage name is Shae\'Danique. I\'m a Singer/Songwriter that is from a small town called Huddersfield, I\'ve got so much passion for music. I started off singing at a very young age. I\'ve been participating with singing competitions, music theatres and open mics, acoustic nights etc. I\'ve achieved a distinction in Music Performance and I\'ve also completed Level 3 RockSchool Music Practitioner. I would described myself as an optimistic person who loves to travel and discover new opportunities in life. I love creating new things and also love writing songs and expressing my thoughts and feelings throughout my songs. I\'m a very humble, friendly, independent and funny individual, I\'m very dedicated of what I do and very reliable and trustworthy. In 2016 something amazing happened to me as I stopped smoking, From then on I trained my singing voice by doing vocal exercises everyday. I finally got my voice back and I started to believe in myself as a singer.

General Experience
I did my work experience at Catwalk (fashion clothes shop) in Huddersfield on the 13th March 2011. I worked for 2 weeks during this placement and i started at 8.30am to 5.30pm. During the work experience I had to be patient at all times because I had to be on my feet for 9 hours, sorting, helping and communicating to the customers and staff. I work with customers who need different clothing sizes, colours, washes, fits and patterns and their personalities will vary just as much. My job was to help them find what they need and make them feel good so they will buy the clothes. And when the answer to “Do I look good in this?” is definitely a “no,” bite your lip and recommend something else. I had to be responsible by cleaning the mirrors, floors etc., collecting clothes from stock and hanging them up, and also make sure that everything’s neat, in order and in the correct place. I had to stand by the changing rooms to pay attention and be aware of the customers if they need help by any chance or if they need my advice. The skills that I have developed during this placement is awareness skills Communication skills, Confidence and presentation skills, Ability to make decisions under pressure and Negotiation skills.
I did my work placement at Bradley St. Thomas Nursery in Huddersfield on the 17th April 2014. I worked for 3 weeks and I started at 8.15am to 3.00pm, during this placement it was my job to be responsible to take care of children but also for their development, so during a typical week they are involved in planning educational play activities, as well as playing alongside them and encouraging them to participate. I had to be welcoming to the children and parents in the morning and settling the children to various play activities, such as painting, drawing, toys, sand and water play.
Organising and leading group activities, planning and setting out themed activity areas such as drawing my house, going shopping, making birthday cards and helping the children to understand and complete their tasks. Talking to and interacting with the children, keeping a watchful eye on the children's behaviour, encouraging shy children to participate and maintaining discipline. Providing snacks and assisting them to eat, wash and toilet, reading stories to groups, ensuring that children are playing safely, overseeing outdoor play on swings, slides, etc. and clearing away after activities and at the end of the day. I also had to tidy up the classroom such as vacuuming up, mopping up, dusting the surfaces, putting away books etc.
I also had to make sure the kitchen is clean and the toilets. The only thing that I wasn’t allowed to do is completing paperwork, children's files and keeping records of their development because that’s the teacher’s job to do. The skills that I’ve developed during this placement is communication and listening skills, patience; with all children, but especially with those with behavioural problems or special educational needs, a calm nature and the ability to keep a cool head in a crisis, team working skills, creative skills and the ability to plan exciting activities, plenty of energy and a sense of humour.

What I like to do in my spare time is shopping with my friends, going to the cinemas, reading, dancing, exploring new activities, going to the gym etc. I sometimes go to bar 1.22 on a Tuesday night to sing in front of people and also join in with other people singing. It’s a very friendly, relaxed and an happy environment with amazing talented people, I enjoy going their because I love music, music is my life, when I hear music I feel no pain and that’s why I love preforming. I write my own songs and express my talent in front of people; I perform at pubs, bars and events. I go swimming every weekend, I like to keep fit as it improves my breathing and singing. I love to read non- fictional books, musical books etc.
