I am a performer almost more than a news journalist and I enjoy this aspect of broadcast news most, along with the intuition needed for interviewing. I have always wanted to try a move into acting or comedy. I enjoy presenting and interecting with an audience or the public.

General Experience

23 years in national broadcast newsrooms, first as an assistant producer, then producer, reporter and presenter. BBC, Sky News, ITN, Channel 4 News, Channel 5 News and ITV Regional News at Meridian TV.

Reporting live from the scene and anchoring in the studio. This can be quite serious but I also do lighter/more lifestyle work ("Meridian Tonight" was more of a news-magazine show) and I prefer this. I love doing vox pops - not everyone does!
Since having children in 2002 I have scaled back my work, presenting "Local Government Today" on the Sky Community Channel and presenting at conferences (mostly public sector - NHS, local authorities) but I am now in a position to do more work.

I also played a news reporter in the Sky One docudrama "Terror Alert - could you survive?" (2004, Scream Films) see www.4rfv.co.uk/industrynews.asp?id=31384

and a newsreader in a similar BBC docudrama, so I like acting and improvising.

Qualifications & Training

University of Bristol, Degree in Modern Languages, Russian and French
I also speak Swedish owing to family ties.
23 years on the job - NUJ member.

Relevant Skills

Presentable, sane (!) RP voice. Have interviewed royalty (Prince Philip, up a lighthouse) and Barry Manilow, Gordon Brown, Ivana Trump, David Soul - not all on the same day - so I can be wheeled out in front of anyone.

Interests & Hobbies

In 2003 I passed Grade 1 Tap Dancing with distinction, although I just did it for enjoyment.
I am also learning ballet - again for the performance aspect and fitness.
