All the world's a stage, And all the men and women, merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts.SHAKESPEARE  - As you like it. In film, TV or on stage, acting is, for Roderick, the opportunity to honestly and authentically bring a character or characteristics from page to life. From the very first time he took to the stage he realised that there was an opportunity to authentically express himself, although it was some years later until he acted on this insight. To be precise, 6 years later, whilst on a course (self-development work / courses has been an essential part of his life for over 20 years), there was a particular subject being discussed: "dreams unfulfilled". This provoked Roderick to act on what felt more than just an insight, but like 'unfinished business'. It really was the access to a new profession and as he would discover, a whole new way of living! A very good friend in "the industry" recommended The Anna Scher Theatre. Wow - what an experience! There he has learnt the value honest expression has to offer with a great deal of focus being placed on believability and improvisation. Anna Scher's classes remain an important aspect of his continuing development as an actor and he considers Anna very much as his mentor, as do others in her talented adult class. So far, Roderick has been choosed to perform on stage performances, Don Juan (lead role) in the play of the same name, Norman Beaton (lead role) in the play Where's Norman Beaton Gone, 'Old Man' in Two and 'The Fire Starter' in It Was a Big Fire. Film performances have also brought a couple of interesting small roles thus far, including being a 'Preacher' in Cold Living, and a 'hostage' in Daylight Robbery. He has been privileged to have been selected to appear in a number of TV commercials, including as a 'Tottenham Hotspur fan' in a Sky Sports football commercial,  'The Banker' for Country Life Butter, 'man brushing teeth'  in BBC Radio 2 Chris Evans commercial and the 'central character' in Sky HD Supertelly commercial (with the wonderful music from the Charlie and the chocolate factory). These opportunities to perform on stage, film and TV, have been excellent experiences and he hopes to progress to bigger and more challenging projects in the future. However, Roderick is keen to pursue all avenues of acting which includes educational role-plays, which he finds insightful and challenging, and he has worked for and on behalf of Speakers for Education and play 'key' roles in medical role-plays for the General Medical Council and the Royal College of General Practitioners. He also enjoys rehearsed reading, and to date has performed in The Grass is Greener and Transit. Roderick is therefore a very complete and diverse actor, full of experience and yet still hungry to learn and do more in the world of acting.
