About Me

ROGER RAYNER studied piano with Prof. Vivian Langrish and organ with Dame Gillian Weir, and performed in masterclasses under Vlado Perlemuter, Harald Vogel, Peter Williams and Gillian Weir. He gained the Principal's Discretionary Prize for piano playing at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and has performed in many venues from an early age, including numerous engagements with the Council for Music in Hospitals.
Roger has had a considerable career as an instrumental teacher. The contrast between teachings based on 19th-Century traditions and the latest notions in historical performance practice has given him a rare insight into the development of musical interpretation.

He was an Exhibitioner in Music at Trinity College, Cambridge and has lectured for the University of East Anglia, the Workers' Educational Association, the Cambridge Board of Continuing Education and the leading company ACE Study Tours, arranging educational holidays.
