About Me

Born in London Ontario, Canada in 1991. Rebecca Bassett-Graham grew up in Auckland New Zealand, where she began training in Classical Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary Dance from the age of three. In 2009, Rebecca was accepted into the New Zealand School of Dance full-time program to train as a Contemporary Major. After graduating from New Zealand School of Dance in 2011, Rebecca had opportunity to work alongside dancers of the New Zealand Dance Company throughout her internship with the company during their 2012 ‘Rotunda’ development project. In April 2012 Rebecca joined DanceNorth as an intern during director Raewyn Hill’s new work ‘Bolero’. Rebecca performed the work as it premiered during DanceNorth’s Townsville season and throughout the Australian Ballets ‘Lets Dance’ season in Melbourne. Rebecca returned to New Zealand to work with Ross McCormack during the workshop of his new work ‘Age’. Continuing, Rebecca worked with choreographer Sarah Foster-Sproull, on her new work 'The Nothing'.

In April 2013 Rebecca moved to London, where she currently resides. Rebecca began working with Lewis Major on his new work ‘Glasshouses’. In August 2013 this work was presented at Curve Theatre in Leicester, UK and following that premiered in London in October at Sadler’s Wells during the Wildcard season. ‘Glasshouses’ was invited to perform at TEDx Conference at The Museum of London and a solo exert was also performed by Rebecca in C-12 Dance Theatre’s Emerge13 season, at The Space in London.

In 2014 Rebecca premiered her first professional work 'When All is Said and Done' at the Australian & New Zealand Festival of Literature and Arts in London, as well featuring in a number of music videos with artist from New Zealand and across the UK. Throughout last year Rebecca was fortunate enough to work closely with Beyond Repair Dance Company and independent choreographer Danny Lucien Reid, with whom she returned to perform at the TEDx Conference in London. Most recently Rebecca premiered her second professional work in London, with co-choreographer Jono Selvadurai. The creative pair performed their work ‘the assessor’ as part C12 Dance Theatre 2015 Emerge Festival. Throughout this three week festival Rebecca also had the opportunity to perform a new solo work ‘It's Complicated’.
