About Me
I am a passionate and committed musician and guitar player, having acquired many valuable skills during my academic and individual music studies. These skills contribute to the delivering of my highly prepared lessons in a positive, enthusiastic and proficient way, suitable for beginners to advanced players and musicians of all ages.
I am interested in teaching as it is an occupation that I feel I have a natural inclination for, and it also represents a source of excitement to me, to work with students and pupils of all ages, guiding them towards reaching their true potential as musicians, in a professional way.
One reason I consider myself appropriate for a teaching position is that during my third year at the BMus (Hons) course, I am preparing to obtain my Teaching Certificate and Rockschool Licentiate. Having said that, this job represents a wonderful opportunity for me to put into practice all the professional work that I have been trained to do in regards to being and becoming a successful teacher. This includes my ability of being a very good observer of the students in terms of their most effective ways of studying and evaluating their progress. By doing so, each one them will benefit from having lessons specially created to meet their needs, with the help of highly developed lesson plans, home study plans and supplementary materials. In addition, I am prepared to teach groups of students as well, due to my ability to differentiate the progress of the students and having very good administrative and organisational skills.
However, besides the traditional way of delivering and receiving information, my lessons describe a modern and interactive approach to development, and also a positive, useful and relaxed learning experience, especially when it comes to music, a subject that is so close to the human nature and has an overall positive role towards one’s personal evolution. Having said that, I believe that my students consider me a motivator and an inspiration towards development and success in their musical journey.
In my academic background I have demonstrated my areas of strength to be: excellent guitar technique sight reading, improvising, operating music notation and production software, writing compositions and arrangements both individually and collectively. These skills are combined with a general thorough understanding of music, based on solid ear training and on excellent knowledge of harmony and theory. I have used these abilities during various professional musical contexts, ranging from recording for studio producers, playing in front of musical directors and learning new instruments and styles of music and many others.
In addition I have undertaken training about Health & Safety, Special Education Needs and Child Protection and Abuse.
I have very good interpersonal, organisational skills and there is great humility, empathy and respect in my teaching, mainly because I have a highly developed emotional intelligence which guides me to better understanding and interacting with students of all ages.
I also have problem solving abilities and a very fast learning curve and motivation that has exceeded most people’s expectations. Ever since I started to play the guitar and studying music, no longer than 7 years ago, I was increasingly more passionate about these activities which have represented the main intense focus of my life. Even though I lived in an environment where I did not have many people to play and study with, I exceeded everybody's expectations with my ambitious goals in life and have been completely self taught for three years. After only such a short time, I was accepted to the highly reputed Institute of Contemporary Music Performance where my skills and abilities have been proven to be highly developed and have represented a solid basis for my new and future educational achievements. Having said that, my results within this time frame represent a proof that I can easily adapt to new and challenging situations and add a valuable and positive contribution.
