About Me
Laura Angela Collins studied Musical Theatre at the Brits school for performing Arts and Technology. Laura was also apart of the bubble and the unicorn theatre where she contributed to many public production.
Within Laura’s short life she has experienced many emotional difficult circumstances in which she feels has progressed her to be a better performer as she is able to relate to many a role. Laura is also a mother to three daughters whom are her pride and joy.
Laura is a very versatile, hardworking & quick thinking individual. Through her professional training from a very young age and life experiences she is able to take on many a diversity of role.
Laura’s grandmother, Angelina Collins renamed Angela, is known to lay in a mass grave in St Finbarrs cemetery in County Cork Ireland with 72 other women after working for 27 years in a Magdalene laundry. Laura’s mother, Mary Teresa Collins, is a survivor of a abusive industrial school run by the sister of mercy and partook in the child abuse commission and was present within the dáil for the Magdalene apology after contributing to the mcayleese report.
Laura has campaigned for her grandmother\'s exhumation and for the crimes of the Irish government and Catholic Church to be acknowledged on her mother behalf continuously over the years. Laura currently has the support of 8 thousand people behind her.
Laura has published her research regarding Irish Travellers involving the commission of itinerary and the Tuam Mother and Baby Home in Galway where 800 babies are in a mass grave.
Laura had conducted independent research on Irish institutions such as Industrial schools, Ireland’s mother and baby homes and the Magdalene laundries. She has been a leading critic of the mother and baby home Investigation commission and past investigations into child abuse commission conducted by the Irish government.
Laura Angela Collins wrote The Tinker Menace. She chairs the organisations Justice 4 All Women & Children and Travelling People Worldwide.
Within a review in regards to Laura’s book conducted by the “Travellers voice Magazine” Laura is described as
“fiercely passionate, Laura’s writing conveys a strong-minded women determined to use her voice as truth against the opposition.”
Laura was also interviewed on RTE Radio 1. Corks 96 FM and Niall Boylan show.
On March 19, 2017, The Sunday Mirror and Irish Sunday Mirror quoted her research, saying she \"had identified 335 known Traveller’s surnames in the 796 remains buried at the Catholic-run mother and baby home in County Galway.\"
In 2019, Laura won the first ever Irish Traveller pride award in Intersectionality she was presented it on day by Catherine corless known for her work in compiling the information concerning the deaths of children at the Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home in Tuam, Galway.
Laura has demonstrated throughout her years of handwork, creativity, compassion, group work and leadership.
Laura’s goal is to one day have her family’s story taken of paper and put onto the large screen while contributing her acting and life experiences to such a personal production.
