About Me

Hi! My name is Katy Cameron and I would really like to start a career in film. I am an incredibly hard working individual with a love of life like no other. I am student studying History with Languages at university whilst working at the five star Baxter hostel in the heart of Edinburgh as a translator and tour guide. I am also a keen photographer and my skills behind the camera have allowed me to photograph graduations and become the photographer for the hostel where I take photographs of Edinburgh and post them online to try and bring people to Edinburgh. I am also an extremely passionate piano player having played at weddings in historic castles and for people all over Scotland. I have dabbled in presenting and lighting before whilst working during the Fringe Festival and now, as I have the time, I would like to pursue the career further.

During the Just Festival 2012, I was tasked with presenting the different acts just as they were coming on stage. Now I am working at the hostel, I am also tasked with speaking to several people in several different languages about not only the hostel but also about Edinburgh, the history and the sights.

I have been playing the piano for over 13 years now and through my practice I have been able to play for people all over Scotland and at events in places such as Doune Castle. Whilst at school I was part of a traditional folk band where I played and composed traditional piano music. I also taught myself how to play the ukulele and performed in a group at school concerts. During my final year at school I was also taught how to sing in Gaelic.

General Experience

I have worked for the Just Festival in 2012 where I was given the opportunity to work in several areas including presenting, lighting and in the box office. Now I am working in a five star hostel in Edinbutgh whilst living in the city. There I am tasked with greeting and speaking with guests in different languages and presenting the sights, history and culture in Edinburgh to them.

Qualifications & Training

I am currently half way through my History and Languages degree at university.
