Employment History & Experience
I began playing guitar at the age of 4 (in 1990), and joined my first serious band at the age of 16. This band peformed on the Country music circuit in the UK for 2 years, before I formed Blues/Rock Jam Band "Jellyroll" with my then-university pal JoJo Burgess. During the 3 years playing with Jellyroll, I performed alongside James Hunter, Wilko Johnson, Johnny Dickinson and Jon Renbourne.
In 2007, I formed "Hokie Joint", also with JoJo Burgess. We released our first album, "The Way It Goes...Sometimes" in 2008 through "CoolBuzz" records, based in Amsterdam (www.coolbuzz.nl) and since then have performed alongside Steve Winwood, Jeff Beck, John Mayall, ZZ Top, Jamie Cullum, Texas and Morcheeba.
I have performed in the UK, Holland, France, Belgium and Luxembourg, and I'm planning on embarking on a tour of the USA in the next 12 months.
At the time of writing, the band will be releasing a new album, "The Music Starts To Play" in May 2011. Videos/sound clips etc can be found at www.hokiejoint.co.uk
Throughly my time in the bands mentioned, I have been the sole guitarist, backing vocalist, and chief songwriter.
I also teach guitar, and have done so for the past 2 years. I teach all styles of guitar, to all ages and abilities. My "star" pupil, who began playing 6 weeks before I started teaching him, has just achieved grade A* for his GCSE music performance exam, and a grade A for his composition.
I also work as a solo artist, singing and playing guitar, and will be doing more so throughout the year. I perform a mix of blues/country and soul, in my own unique style.
