Employment History & Experience
As a former teacher, I am confident in public, articulate, have excellent communication skills and used to 'performing' as part of a daily routine. I was filmed, and spoke on camera (the producer said I was a 'natural') during a six-month project for ITV, called 'Smarter Than Your Kids', which was screened successfully following the end of production. My career has also involved the delivery of training modules to groups of adults from all backgrounds.
Physical Details
Experience & Qualifications
General Experience
Formerly a teacher, tutor and trainer, I taught for more than twenty years, followed by work for training companies in the delivery of set modules. Now redundant, I am keen to follow new avenues and gain experience in new fields. Adventurous and outgoing, I have travelled widely, including twice crossing the Sahara Desert by Land Rover, written a novel (the sequel is in progress) and enjoyed both surf and river canoeing. Fit, for my age, I keep in good shape and have an open-minded outlook on life, being able to get on well with people at all levels. I am willing to travel, within reason and by negotiation, and have a full driving licence.
Qualifications & Training
Educated to degree level and a qualified teacher (B.Ed Hons, Cert Ed)

Interests & Hobbies
I played county rugby at school and senior level, at St Helens,Orrell and Waterloo, being an active player until 1995. I was also a coach and team selector for Liverpool-St Helens Rugby Union Football Club and remain a keen member from afar. I love travel and have visited much of Europe, including the former Soviet Russia. Journeying in North Africa, I travelled through Morocco, Algeria and Niger, twice crossing the Sahara Desert by Land Rover. When attending university in California, I spent time travelling and camping in Mexico. I enjoy reading, writing, music and film. My sporting interests have included rugby, sailing and skiing, and I was previously active in canoeing. I still try to keep fit by running and swimming. At home, my time is also taken up by the renovation of a smallholding, where I enjoy spending time with my family and a ‘menagerie’. I have had short stories accepted for publication and, in 2005, my first novel was published: a sequel is in progress. In addition, I have written a 7000-word presentation, backed up by a PowerPoint display, on The Difficulties of Becoming Published and the Pitfalls to Avoid.
