About Me
I'm Hanna, I'm 20 from Bristol, studying Drama at Exeter University.
Primarily, I'm a musician. I write and record songs currently in the acoustic, singer-songwriter genre. I am working on and developing my skills in music production so I can extend my sound down a more alternative, soul/RnB route. I have had experience performing across a variety of locations, from paid performances at weddings through to solo pub gigs. I am a keen songwriter and performer, and looking for ways to heighten my skills in music production, marketing myself as an artist and creating music.
At university, I have been the Musical Director of Exeter University Soul Choir 2016-17, and have just been reelected to continue this role next year. The role requires me arranging songs into four part harmony; vocal coaching and teaching the choir; liaising and directing our band. We have performed at small pubs, hospitals and care homes through to selling out performances venues in Exeter, from The Monkeysuit to one of Exeter's largest venues where we collaborated with Exeter University Jazz Orchestra at The Phoenix. We have also been asked to perform at Exeter's Poltimore Festival, and as Musical Director I see it as my duty to serve the sassiest, sexiest and most soulful numbers - and I love it so much I can't resist doing it for another year.
University has also allowed me the oppurtunity to write music for theatre. An Exeter based theatre company, Helix Theatre, employed me to compose and record an original score for their production of Dennis Kelly's 'DNA'. The work from this has secured me another oppurtunity to compose another original score for an Exeter student production of 'The Lovely Bones' in the following months.
My passion for music shows no bounds, the last two years of university have proved to me that I can't not take on music in some way, shape or form as I graduate from university, as it gives me so much more than I could ever ask for.
As a former member of Bristol Old Vic Young Company and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, I am keen to uphold my passion for drama. University has allowed me the oppurtunity to act in a plethora of productions, from musicals through to physical theatre. The Drama course at Exeter University has allowed me to study actor training, and has inspired me to develop my skills in acting, playwriting and directing.
