About Me

I have been dancing, singing and acting since the age of seven and, whilst training, took part in several shows at leading theatres in the North West as a dancer, vocalist and assistant choreographer. After leaving full time dance college in 1993, I concentrated mainly on teaching and continued to further my qualifications. I have stayed up to date with new syllabi and can readily teach ISTD courses in Tap, Modern and Ballet at all levels.

Mainly through my work with Bolton Council’s Artists in Schools scheme, I also taught dance to non-dancers in primary and secondary schools and have taken great pleasure in seeing confidence grow in non-dancers and dancers alike, greatly enhancing their personal life skills. I work hard to develop creative teaching ideas and the innovative choreography for which I am known.

In my 19 years of teaching, I have taught students from aged three to full time further education. I continue to do so in my current position as Vice Principal at Dolphin Dance Studios College though my main role is concentrated on full time students. Some students have themselves taken up a career in teaching, whilst many have successfully developed their stage careers, several going on to perform at leading theatres including the West End and the Moulin Rouge, Paris.

I maintain contact with many former students and frequently provide audition coaching on a one to one basis, as well as teaching master classes at summer schools.

I have managed to balance an enjoyable performing career alongside my teaching career, taking a leading part in typically two shows per week as a member of the Heritage Productions team. I retired from performing myself in 2008 but my focus remains on teaching and choreography which is my passion.
