Employment History & Experience
I worked professionally with Pintsize Theatre Company performing in three tours that took educational plays around Nottinghamshire in 2004-2005 and 2008, accumulating to over 275 performances. The performances consisted of a 45 minute play followed by a 45 minute workshop. In these performances I played many different roles and the plays were fast paced and energetic. Whilst the plays were scripted, the workshops were interactive with the audience so each session involved a great deal of improvisation due to the fact that you never knew how the audience were going to respond.
I first worked with Pintsize Theatre Company in 2003, when I acted in a drug awareness film called ‘What About Me’, where I played the main part of a teenage heroin user. The film centred on Heroin use and the affects of it on the user’s family. Pintsize produced the film in collaboration with Geronimo Films and W.A.M and it appeared in the London Film Festival, short films sections in 2003. The film is still widely used by W.A.M. and has been distributed globally with a resource pack. The script came out of many hours of research and improvisations with the other actors and the director, Paul Whittington.
For the last two summers I have worked at a sleep away camp for homeless children from New York City in the position of Drama Specialist/Camp Counsellor. In my capacity as Drama Specialist I was responsible for the planning and execution of 5 drama classes per day. This significantly improved my organisational and teaching skills, as well as my creativity. I had to deal with incredibly challenging behaviour due to the fact that the majority of the children are from unstable backgrounds and have severe behavioural issues.
