About Me

Although when you first meet me I seem shy and perhaps a little unsure don\'t be fooled. I love being the centre of attention. When I perform I go into my own world and I just want to entertain and hold people with my performance. I love pushing myself to the limit in a performance, I relish the chance of developing new skills and although drama is my forte I love making people laugh, to know I am entertaining them and to see smiles on everyone\'s face.

Employment History & Experience

Whilst at school I was lucky to obtain a work experience placement at Shanklin Theatre. Although this did not involve any performing I worked on the lighting and sound, helped with the props. At the evening performances I helped front of house, meeting the public and assisting in the ticket office, I then went and helped the stage manager and the lighting manager. This helped to give me a greater understanding and respect of other aspects of working in the theatre and how many different roles are needed to make and bring a performance together.
My first real stage performance for a paying audience was playing Lady Constance Redmayne in "After Marston Moor", a play set in the English Civil War and on the same night I also performed as Bugs Bunny in a fantasy play. I have been a member of several Isle of Wight Theatre groups and various roles from background dancer to major speaking parts.
I pick up accents quite quickly, I can do an eastern european accent, lancashire and an exaggerated american accent. When I play a complex character I like to research them as much possible so I am able to portray them accurately not just through the script but with my body language and my emotions. I make it my goal to insure thaat I play the character how the director wants it portrayed.
In 2009 I won two awards at the Isle of Wight Music and Arts festival,one was for a joint performance with a fellow student and the other was for a monolouge for which I am proud to say I was awarded the trophy for the best overall performance for the 2009 festival. I portrayed a teenage girl who had lost her baby and when it was announcede at the awards ceremony that I had won the head judge said my performance had been "head and shoulders above anything else they had seen". This is definitely one of the proudest moments of my life.
The more complex and challenging the character the more I enjoy the performance, I am comfortable with playing any role as it is only acting and I find researching a character very satisfying because I know that preparing for the role thoroughly means I can deliver a more realistic performance.
In 2012 I worked as a street performer for Marc Tuckey of Ghostswalks & Investigations. This consisterd of me performing as a variety of characters from the ghost stories told during the walks, including dark characters to frighten the audience. These ghostwalks & investigations were performed in different locations of the island, to create the historical atmosphere.
