About Me

I am interested in developing my acting career, and have a keen interest in clowning and comedic roles, drawing from inspirations such as commedia dell\'arte. I also have experience in physical theatre, having taken part in workshops led by industry professionals, as well as previously devising this genre of theatre. I have acted in classical Shakespeare plays, as well as contemporary, cutting-edge plays. I have a keen interest in feminist theatre shows, as well as putting a new spin on classics to appeal to a wider, contemporary audience.

Experience & Qualifications

General Experience

I have various experience of working within the creative arts industry, which have given me invaluable insight into how the industry works. My experience on stage includes performing in a wide variety of amateur productions. Whilst at university I was part of the Nottingham New Theatre, a completely student run theatre that produces thirty shows a year. I acted in eight productions, both theatre and radio, and also gained experience of working in a professional theatre with a professional industry director at the Lakeside Arts Centre. Since graduating from university I have kept up acting, working in new playwright showcases and performances. My time as Company Stage Manager on the Nottingham New Theatre Committee also developed my understanding of, and respect for, the artistic craft of putting a performance together.

Qualifications & Training

English BA – 2:1 (University of Nottingham)

Other Information

Interests & Hobbies

My interests involve swimming, knitting and reading classic and contemporary literature, particularly work by Neil Gaiman and authors in the science fiction genre. I also enjoy stage managing, a skill developed during my time as Company Stage Manager on the Nottingham New Theatre Committee and while working at Shakespeare Schools Foundation. This developed my interest and respect for the logistics involved in producing shows. I also enjoy watching theatre, recently seeing The B*easts by Monica Dolan about the sexualisation of young children, as well as Julie at The National Theatre. Such shows, from their topical ideas to their creative use of production, inspire me to want to continue my acting career and push myself as a performer.

As well as being an enthusiastic theatre-goer, during my time at university, I performed in various theatre productions as part of the Nottingham New Theatre, such as As You Like It by William Shakespeare and Blue Stockings by Jessica Swale. I thoroughly enjoy performing, and had the opportunity to take on the lead role in Blue Stockings when the university transferred it to its China campus as part of an international performing arts festival. Though this opportunity was challenging, it was a great chance to experience different cultures and types of theatre, furthering my interest and dedication to the performing arts.
