About Me

Although approaching 57, I appear to have good genes since I am usually taken for being significantly younger, and can probably be cast credibly from mid-forties to late fifties. I was recently made redundant, and am in a position where I can now easily make myself available for work as an extra with minimal notice. I am a team player, with little ego, and a love of simply being a part of things, but can be relied upon to be professional and focused when set a task. I am receptive to direction but can contribute ideas if it is clear these are welcome. My Honours degree was in Drama, Film & Television, included acting both on stage and for the camera. I subsequently acted on stage in amateur performances, while teaching acting in schools and college for the past 25 years. I also have some experience acting for the camera recently, when an independent film-maker in Sheffield asked me to act in a 10 min absurd comedy he was making to submit to the BBC. This was subsequently broadcast on a Thursday night 3 years ago. When asked to submit a longer one, approx 25 minutes, he again asked me to play the main role; this is at final colour-grading stage, prior to submission. My most recent acting experience was on 17th-19th August, when I participated in a 3 day workshop at West Yorkshire Playhouse with a professional director (Linda Miller) and working actors, doing exploratory work on a new play.

Performed in amateur theatre, worked 7 summers on camps for underprivileged children from Chicago (USA), worked 25 years in education teaching drama and managing Performing Arts.

BA Honours; Drama, Film & Television. Programming Proficiency Certificate from National Broadcasting School. Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Drama specialism).

I am highly literate and have often been told I am sensitive to the nuances of meaning in a script, enabling me to bring some insight and creativity to a role. Once assigned a role, I fully commit to it and work hard to develop it.

Interests & Hobbies

I have a passion for history and love learning about other cultures both past and present. I have visited Russia three times in recent years and am self-teaching myself to read and speak Russian. I am also a lifelong US comic collector and would be able to tap into my 'inner-geek' to hold conversations with characters from 'The Big Bang Theory'!
