About Me

I am a responsible and adaptable person who is keen to begin a career in production. During my time at school I have learnt how to use a variety of lighting boards, how to install and operate lights safely, I have also had some experience in DMX based moving head programming. In addition to lighting I also have experience when it comes to sound, this all contributes towards my Drama Technical coursework , a collection of grades from school performances, and finally a written exam. While at school I have also become school photographer and video producer, I have filmed a range of events from the Eclipse in 20151 to the Foundation Charity event ‘Raise for Life’2, and more recently I have filmed all of the school’s 1st XV Rugby team, who have just reached Twickenham in the NatWest Schools Cup, rugby games3. I have also learnt to work with others as part of a Sound and Light team, as a leader and as a member of the team, understanding how important it is to allow people to be able to talk and have their say.
I work in an organised manner and always like to get work done with plenty of time before it is due, but I can also work quickly if a quick turn around is needed. I’ve used my computer skills to market many of the events I have had involvement in, using programmes such as Adobe Illustrator and using social media to publicise them. I have been interested in Sound and Light from a young age, as when I was 8 I became a DJ at parties for my friends using professional equipment and setting up what I could do myself!
From a young age I have also had a strong entrepreneurial spirt, when I was 5 I started making cards and printing holiday photos for friends and family, to now; where I have a selection of websites under the ‘ChrisGGroup’4 name, for example one of the sites, ModelSigns5, is a website I have created through my knowledge and interest in model railways, it sells and offers some free signs in a variety of scales for other modellers to use on their layouts. Another of the sites is Chris Gillespie Photography6, a site where I post and sell many of the photos I take, mostly from Cornwall, where I have gone on family holidays for many years. Making these websites has meant I have had to deal with day to day running of the websites, from sourcing domain hosting and using services such as Google Analytics and I have also created nearly all of the content myself using a variety of programs.
I am keen to continue learning and world be grateful to learn new skills at the same time as gaining practical experience. I have a strong interest in photography and videography, using lots of my work in school. I also have a strong interest in railways, I’m a member of the Wakefield Railway Modellers Society (WRMS) that meet every week to build and discuss model railways. Every year we host an exhibition that usually sees around 3000 people attend over the weekend, I have been involved in the show from setting up equipment and carrying fragile layouts to operating them and interacting with the public.
