About Me

Hi. My name is Callum, but I am mostly known as Cal. I have a bubbly and bright personality and love expressing myself in performing arts. I love keeping fit and staying in shape. Playing for my local rugby team is how i stay fit and strong, and to stay in shape for the game i visit the gym three times a week. It is essential for me to eat healthy and to keep my skin as clear as possible but, as a tenager that can sometimes be difficult! I am part of an Edinburgh based drama group Electric Youth Theatre and Creative Electric. This has a reputation of performing to an extremely high standard although we do not always have the funding. Singing is also a passion i have. I tend to Sing anywhere and everywhere, often infront of a small crowd if i am perfoming, with my guitar in hand. Also, I like to look good and wear good looking clothes at all times.

Employment History & Experience

Electric Youth Theatre with National Youth Theatre of Scotland. Main character in 'Conceptions'. A piece where I played "Jack the Lad", always with girls and had a big reputation and the nickname 'Stick'. In this play I had to show my butch "Hollywood Hunk" side, in one scene almost naked, but when the tables turn, I fall in love with my best friend, where i must show that I am trying to hide the fact I am gay, or I will lose my reputation. It was a difficult piece to perform but after lots of work we managed to pull it off .

Creative Electric with National Theatre of Scotland. Ensemble performer in 'Petrol Bomb Candy'. A piece where all misfits could fit in at the Petrol Bomb with Candy. But when their insecurities are blown wide open, all is not as peaceful as it was when it started at the Petrol Bomb. In this devised performance, I played 'Smithy', your classic lad. Here, I had a long term relationship with a blonde waitress who could be misconstrued as being stupid. When my insecurities were brought out and broke us up, my character seemed 'broken', and was drawn toward cheap one night stands and bad decisions.

Skins series 5 auditions. I took part in the open auditions in Bristol back in April. As one thing lead to another and i was visiting London and trips back to Bristol, I found myself in the final auditions at the end of May. Unfortunately, the character they had assigned for me was gay, and i wasn't to suit that part, but at the time was too young to play his older, straight, brother. It was a good experience and anything can be done.

Employment History & Experience

Since I was just young I have loved the guitar and all who play. I started playing guitar at the age of 10, taking classical classes. At 14 I decided this was not for me, and took classes where i had the choice of what i would like to learn. I learned simple chords at first, then moved on to different chords and strumming patterns. I can play most songs after practice.

Boy band auditions.
Edinburgh based boy band auditions. Made the cut for the final band but music label decided not to go ahead with it. The producer is still looking to do some work with me.

General Experience

Newspaper Delivery 2006 – 2009:
Paper round for Monktonhall Newsagents in Musselburgh. This involved early morning delivery of newspapers to various houses in the area, which needed to be delivered promptly and accurately. Occasionally helping out with additional rounds in the holiday season.

Joiner Assistant February 2008 and April 2008:
Williamson Joinery – worked with Joiner assisting with the fitting of a kitchen and bathroom during School Holidays.



Cancer Research September 2009 – December 2009:
Charity shop work for twelve weeks as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. I worked in store as a shop assistant helping customers and sorting deliveries.

School Work Experience 2009:
Through the school’s work experience week I worked as a Rugby Reporter/Programme producer for BBC Scotland. Duties here involved attending meetings, conducting interviews and assisting in production of radio shows.

Shop Assistant - April - August 2010
Employed on a “seasonal/when needed basis” in a busy tourist shop in Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. Duties included assisting customers and tourists to Scotland with purchases including novelty Scottish items to expensive Cashmere products. High customer service was essential in this role.

Burness Solicitors, Edinburgh - Summer 2010:
Two weeks working within a top Edinburgh Legal firm. My duties involved scanning a large number of legal documents which were to be stored electronically before being destroyed. It was extremely important that this job was completed accurately and timeously.

Trespass, Fort Kinnaird October 2010 – Present Date.
Working on the shop floor as a face of the company and making sure customer service is provided at an extremely high level. Keeping tidy and organised is an important part of this job.

Qualifications & Training

I do not have any Acting Qualifications as I am still young.

Training: Regular classes at a highly rated drama class in Edinburgh.
