About Me
I just wanted to give you a brief overview in this covering letter of my experience and ability to work as part of a team or as an individual, my curriculum vitae gives further detail of my experience.
For the past three years I have been studying towards a Bsc degree in media studies (performance) I am happy to tell you that I achieved a 2:1 result. During the three years I worked both in small and larger groups to produce theatre and filmed pieces in front as well as behind the camera. Included in the course were modules on theatre, dance and film acting as well as TV production (within a fully functioning studio) and advertising. In the final year I was able to write, produce and act in a juke box musical using the music of Madonna to tell a story of teenage pregnancy and vulnerability. Within the TV studio and theatre I learnt how to operate many pieces of equipment including the lighting and sound rigs as well as the camera and peds. The degree was an academic course with a wealth of self-initiated practical elements included; I worked with colleagues to produce a music video, television episode as well as a short live series about trending music and fashion. As a mature student I worked with a range of students aged between 18 and 40 years old and found that I was able to do so effectively, occasionally this was in a managerial role.
In addition to the degree I have worked with a local theatre company helping them to source props and organise their annual Christmas event at Portsmouth Historic Dockyards, I had to create a rota for the actors and staff so that they knew what was expected of them during the period as well as ensure the special effects and costumes were present and correct. I have also worked as an extra for Dominic Lees in his short film “The Burning” which is a period drama based during Tudor England; I was required on set two nights in a row to act as an angry villager with a torch shouting angrily at one of the main characters. I have also helped companies to market their productions (the above two included) by creating and distributing posters and flyers as well as setting up social media pages and websites, for one production I was able to make a positive contact with a local shopping centre manager who allowed me to put my marketing material in one of the disused shop windows.
I have an ability to create good working relationships that create a positive environment and open doors as well as create new opportunities.
Many thanks for taking the time to consider my application, I look forward to hearing from you shortly.
