About Me

Ben Haynes is a 22 year old British musician and songwriter born and raised in North Nottinghamshire. For his 8th birthday, Ben's parents brought him his first drum kit and by the age of 12, he was perfoming with bands in and around his local town. A couple of years later Ben joined a local band called The Beetroot kIngs; a pop/folk/punk band of whom managed to share the stage with the likes of The Levellers, Ocean Colour Scene and The Charlatans. During this time, Ben had taken an interest in his Mum's guitar, simultaneously discovering the ability to sing. Ben quickly developed a keen interest in songwriting, paying much interst in artists such as Stereophonics, David Gray, Paul Simon and a little later on, Ray Lamontagne.

After leaving school, Ben went on to study music at New College Nottingham, obtaining a 2.1 Degree in Music Performance and Sonic Arts. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ ​He currently lives in Nottingham and takes pride in being a working musician, teaching drums and gigging on a weekly bassis. Ben has just released his new EP titled, 'Whisper In My Ear' ,which you can buy via BandCamp.

Despite being born with a visual impairment, it has never deterred him from doing the things he enjoys and what he is passionate about. Ben claims that music gave him a voice, and paved the way for intergrating himself both professionally and socially within society.
