Experience & Qualifications

General Experience

In 2007 I was one of the many people who auditioned to join the ‘Junior ITV Television Workshop’ where shortly after my successful audition I was cast for an Educational DVD ‘Alcohol Adolescence’ with the company ‘Atmospheres’. The first monologue I performed at the workshop was ‘Mancub’ by Dougless Atwell which I was then chosen to showcase at Nottingham University. February 2008 I performed ‘Burying Your Brother in the Pavement’ also at Nottingham University where I took the role on as a school child. Later on that year I was cast for a Pizza Hut Advert ‘Happy Hour’ with Tomboy Films which was directed by Shane Meadows where I played the role of the boy as part of the family. In March 2009 I was cast for a short film ‘Ten Tigers’ with the company ‘Elephant Gunn Films’ where played the role of Danni. At the start of the new year I left the ‘Junior Television workshop’ and joined a different acting group called ‘Urban Young Actors’ based in Leicester where I took on the role of ‘Peter Ollerensure’ in ‘Fur Coat and No Knickers’. I most recently took part in a short film called ‘High Society’ where I played a teenage thug who got into some trouble for littering on the streets of Leicester. The experience I have had has given me great understanding of the industry and how important professionalism is when working on set or in theatre.
In the first year of secondary school I was given the part of Macbeth to perform for the ‘National Schools Shakespeare Festivals’ soon after that I was one of the selected year eights to be given the opportunity to be in the upper school production ‘Guys and Dolls’ where I played the role of Harry The Horse. In year nine I played Suetonius in ‘Land Of Dreams’ which was a play only for the high school. ‘Les Miserables’ was the next production I took part in, whilst rehearsing ‘Burying Your Brother In The Pavement’. ‘Rent’ was the latest school production I took part in where I took on the role of Tom Collins. Early this year I w performed ‘We Will Rock You’ playing the role of ‘Pop’ which was a sell out four nights running. Being part of these productions has given me the experience of working with large companies which has helped my communication skills and how to work as a team member.
Throughout AS level I performed a monologue from Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’, a duologue from Steven Berkoffs ‘East’ and a group performance of Mark Ravenhill’s ‘Shopping and F**king’ where I received full marks for each performance. The final performance we did in year twelve was ‘Blood Brothers’ where I was given the role of Mickey which I received a grade A. These performances have taught me a large range of skills as each performance has been so varied in genre and style. From these performances I have developed many performance skills as well as increasing my knowledge and understanding of key practitioners and their influence on theatre. Throughout my final year at College we performed ‘Bouncers’ written by John Godber , ‘Hamlet’ where I played the part of Hamlet which was a physical theatre style of performance and for these two performances I received full marks. For my final showcase performance I chose a monologue from ‘Macbeth’, a section from ‘Playing Sandwiches’ written by Alan Bennett and ‘East’ by Steven Berkoff. I felt it went extremely well and received a grade A for my final result.
This year I have decided to explore different aspects of drama and have been running my own drama club for primary school children which has given different ideas about my career aspirations.
