Female Vocalist wanted for Position in Shanghai

We are looking for two singers for tours on the Chinese club circuit. The singer will be required to sing mainstream MTV style songs, such as Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, etc.

What we are looking for in a vocalist.

Below is a description of the shows that we are putting together. The description is based on the shows that we are producing right now, but can be changed slightly to suit the artists in the team, to best show off their talent.

We require a singer who can dance, and has English as her first language to work as part of a team. The team is put together to create a club show which in the past has consisted of a DJ/producer, singer, MC and a pair of dancers. These shows will be produced for nightclubs, so most of the performances will be at night time.

The show is created to last approximately 2 hours with the DJ starting things off and then leading into the vocalist's first set. The Vocalist will come on stage and sing their montage of backing tracks which will be played by the team’s DJ.

The vocal set is around 15 mins. We like to have it like this so the dancers can come and join the vocalist on stage and perform one of the singer’s backing tracks as a routine.

The DJ will then continue to play music until the next stage performance. The DJ will then play the music for the dancers for their routine. After about an hour has passed the vocalist will be standing by for their 2nd set. This will be similar to the first but with different costumes and of course different tracks. This will also run for about 10-15 minutes. Once again, the DJ will continue to play music after the vocalist has finished and the local venue’s DJ will stand by to take over. The final rundown will be decided once the team is put together. And the show has been produced and rehearsed.

Benefits

1. The monthly basic salary is $ 2000 USD, you are responsible for your own income tax.

2. You will have one day off during the week, which must be taken that week and cannot be worked as time-in-lieu.

3. We will pay for a one-year open return international air ticket. If, for personal reasons, you need to return home within the year, you will have to pay for your own ticket.

4. A Chinese tourist visa cost to enter the country which we will then be converted to a visiting (F) visa on arrival.

5. We offer a standard, fully furnished apartment in a good area, equipped with a washing machine, refrigerator, TV, furniture, kitchen as well as broadband internet access. We will cover the utility bills, electricity, water and gas. Two persons share one bedroom. There is a shopping centre ten minutes’ walk away.

6. We provide a rehearsal studio.

7. There is a $70 USD bonus when old clients ask for you to return.

8. If we ask you to work an extra show for a different client on the same day as your club show, you will receive an extra $70 USD for that set. Additional shows usually take place in the afternoon or early evening.

9. Sometimes when the singer does not have a booking, you will be required to do some prep work for the shows. This will include recording backing vocals in the studio, rehearsing new dance routines with the team’s dancers as well as designing your own new costumes and accessories. Our producer will help you to choose new songs to perform and help out with recording backing tracks and other production related stuff.

10. The salary calculation will start from the fourth day after you arrive in Shanghai because there needs to be three days of preparation and you need to recover from jet leg. Payday is on the 15th of each month. If the 15th falls on a weekend or on a holiday, then you will be paid on the next working day. Payment currency is RMB which you can convert to USD at a bank should you wish.

The contract will be for at least 6 months, however if all goes well, the contract can be extended to a 12-month one.

The team will be based in Shanghai. You will have regular club bookings in Shanghai during the week and be required to travel to other cities in China for the weekend shows. Our English speaking staff will go with you and pay for all transportation and hotel costs. Two persons share one room in the hotel.
