Lifeboat! Is a brand-new British musical set in a coastal fishing town where the
lifeboat is crewed by fishermen. The period is the early 1920s.

The romantic leads are a Navy officer and a nurse who is intelligent and presents herself well. The nurse role requires a person to sing gentle, emotional songs (not belters) including one solo and two duets with the Navy officer.

The performer needs to enjoy performing in a traditional musical full of romantic melodies and catchy numbers.

The performer needs to have a first-class singing voice that has quality rather than volume and possess a good singing range so that songs do not need to be altered to fit the singer.

The performer needs to be a capable actor, delivering lines clearly and with the right emotion depending on the scene. The sparky sense of humour of the nurse needs to come over to the audience.

The performer need not be at professional dancer level, but must be competent in this discipline, as at least a short waltz and a full-length Argentine Tango are envisioned for this role.

It is expected that the show could go live, initially on a primarily amateur basis, towards the end of this year, 2022.

The selection process stages are CV assessment, video interview with a speaking voice test and a song of your choice from a supplied list of older musicals, and a live audition (in South London or North-west Surrey) singing one or two songs from the show and speaking some of the dialogue. Travel expenses reimbursed and refreshments provided.

Those in the final shortlist will be given the opportunity to discuss all aspects of their terms of employment.
