Taking place at West Yorkshire Playhouse, Phoenix Dance Theatre and Nitro Music Theatre are hosting a two-day artistic professional development workshop led by Sharon Watson, Artistic Director of Phoenix Dance Theatre, & Felix Cross, Artistic Director of Nitro Music Theatre.
We are looking for two - three experienced dance students, graduates or emerging dance practitioners to explore ideas and processes that will inform both their dance development and the development of a new collaborative production. The workshop will merge contemporary dance with story, music, poetry and song, incorporating social issues and narrative threads. This is an opportunity to investigate and develop your experience of working within a multi-disciplinary context with world-renowned artists/companies.
The Artistic Directors are seeking enthusiastic and open-minded dance students/graduates who, beyond their dance training and technical foundation in a range of dance styles, are keen to explore movement in new contexts alongside improvisational skills. You should have the enthusiasm for generating material based on an idea and be interested in sharing your own ideas. The ability to be vocal (song or spoken work) is an advantage although not essential.
Cost: The workshop is free of charge and by selection.
Selection process: There are two ways to apply:
1) Attend the open audition - 12-3pm, Thursday 31 July @ Yorkshire Dance, 3 St Peter's Square, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS9 8AH. Please confirm your attendance by emailing diane@nitro.co.uk and bring your CV with photo along.
2) Email web links (YouTube, Vimeo etc) to your dance/performance work with your CV & photo to diane@nitro.co.uk by 2pm, Tuesday 29 July.
