Job Specifics:

Details:
We're looking for a 16-21 year old male or female actor to play the part of Jesus in a controversial new play.
We have a London theatre booked and will be playing for a 3 week run from 26th May - June 15th.
"Son Of Man" is a secular stage play set in the 1st Century that imagines the early life of Jesus and explores how his illegitimate birth may have led him to believe he was the son of a god.
We have space reserved in Central London for auditions and rehearsal. As a fringe/experimental piece, we are offering a share of the profits at the end of the initial run with a view to more work if the piece takes off.
We have a great cast in place but just need Jesus to complete the puzzle. Applicants can be any gender.
They will need to be:
- Angry and resentful because of his lowly "bastard" status in Nazareth
- Defiant and provocative towards his neighbours and family.
- Frustrated because of an apparent lack of purpose and meaning in his life
- Somewhat spoilt with a sense of entitlement because of his mother consoling him with "angel" stories during his difficult childhood.
- Very serene and charming at times especially as his nascent "spiritual" side blossoms over the course of the play.
- Has physical characteristics that marks him out as "different/illegitimate" compared to the rest of Nazareth. Blonde/Red hair Green/blue eyes etc.
- Could also be played by a young woman with hair tied back etc. à la Peter Pan/Shakespeare.
