A collection of course mates and I are making an ALIEN inspired monster movie for cinematography, intended to be completed over summer and taken to festivals the following year.
BLOOD, GORE, TERROR and of course, ALIENS.
It may have horror and action elements but is essentially a spoof comedy, jammed full of pop culture references, cheesy one liners and face eating creatures, all to be wrapped up within a ten minute duration.
It is essentially a one man show with one or two very minor characters, requiring a real blend of witless comedy and frantic TERROR from the actor. The role is non-gender specific, in keeping with ALIEN’s “Ripley”; the character is a cliché, lazy stoner who just happens to find themselves in the middle of the apocalypse while waiting for his shower to warm up.
Casting will probably happen over the week of the 14th and the shoot will take place 21st-23rd of April, all captured in our Selly Oak house.
This will be an INTENSE but FUN shoot, meaning cast and crew will have bed and board here, all kept fed with some home cooked meals. Most of the shooting will be done in the late hours as the piece is set at night and we can all wind down after the nights work and preview the footage. Maybe with a beverage or two.
This is a THREE DAY COMMITMENT and not to be taken lightly.
