Falling within the conventional 'murder mystery' genre but with a more meditative, more compassionate approach to the tried and tested formula, 'The Cuckoo' is an ambitious short set within the rural Cornish landscape.

The murder of a tourist family is the catalyst to a city detective venturing out into the rural countryside to assist the investigation. The crime begins a contemplative character study revolving around death, compassion, pity and the dichotomy between city people and country folk.

The film is part funded by Falmouth University who are also committed to promoting the film in wider circles and placing the finished article in residence at the university archive. Our own intention is to take the film to festivals both UK and worldwide, as well as to showcase the ideas and characters with the hope of increasing the scope from short to feature with outside interest.
