"The sad thing is no one understands. You don't understand me, you don't understand them, and you don't understand us. Get Me?" - Jerome Palmer
Set in East London, Get Me follows four pre-adults: Jerome, Mia, Kelsey & Paula shortly after leaving sixth form behind. Amid a struggle to find their place among their peers, families and each other they try to rekindle their childhood friendships but when their individual problems come to light, they realise it isn't going to be as straight forward. Jerome wants to be the next Mayweather but his brother wants him to inherit the illegal empire he's building. Kelsey is struggling with self-worth issues and is using meaningless and brief relationships to deny it. Paula wants to sing but has parents, who believe in a 9-5, plus she's the darkest in the family and feels like an insecure black sheep and Mia's flaky mum has run off with yet another flame, leaving her daughter alone. The pressure is on and their futures aren't looking too bright but it isn't set in stone either.
Who we are: We're a small, creative and passionate team with no budget (we also happen to be sisters) embarking on our very first project, a scripted web drama and we're looking for all collaborators who want to showcase their talent and build their CVs, including students. Our goal is to build a team/family of creative minds. We have six episodes written for the first season but the hope is to have many more in the future, as we feel this story will resonate not only with the youth but with everyone. Our hope is to inspire all those with an idea not to wait to be chosen or paid or noticed to work on what you love. You can do it yourself by starting from the bottom, like us. Don't wait to be rewarded to work on your dream, work on your dream and you will be rewarded.
If you're interested in applying for this post, please email the address below so we can provide you with the necessary information, including the time, date and location of the auditions. As this is an unpaid job, at least to begin with, we will be offering other benefits which will be discussed with successful candidates before the Principal photography.
Jerome Palmer (Male Lead)
Age range 18 - 25
He's confident, a slow talker. He wears baggy clothes, e.g. track suits. He is optimistic about his future as a professional boxer but is sometimes unsure of himself when dealing with the pressure of those who are gravitating towards a different path.
He's from a Caribbean background.
Samira Whyte (Recurring)
Age range 18 - 21
Samira is the younger sister of Paula Whyte and they're from a Caribbean background. She's self-assured, flashy and independent but can be naive about the outside world. There's simmering tension between she and her sister that's becoming an issue. She can be insensitive, vain and argumentative.
Chris "Kiff" Cooper (Recurring)
Age range 18 - 25
Chris is a laid back kind of guy who enjoys a good game of COD on the PS, with a little something of the green variety to smoke, some music and his boys. He's a huge fan of the opposite sex but lacks confidence when around his boisterous and relentlessly teasing friends.
Langdon Parks (Recurring)
Age range 18 - 25
Aka Kush, is Jerome's best friend. He's loyal, funny, reliable and protective of those close but isn't always diplomatic about the way in which he'll protect them. He's always looking for a fight and has a short temper; beneath the games and jokes is a war inside of his head. The pressure to remain top guy until his brother is released from prison is beginning to show.
Kush's father is from St. Lucia and his mother is Irish.
Darren Palmer (Recurring)
Age range 22 - 27
He’s the older brother of Jerome, trying to build an empire of his own after feeling under the thumb of an older too long. Sick of being a younger, he poached some clients for himself and is now a little tense in anticipation of the retaliation that hasn't come yet. Now rivals with another group, he's determined to make quick cash and share a piece of the pie with his little brother whether he wants it or not.
Saul Joseph (Recurring)
Age range 18 - 25
Aka Budd, Saul is the older brother of Tyree and the closest to Kush and Jerome. He's confident but an otherwise quiet member of the group with a talent for words, a passion for a fat spliff and a penchant for schooling his peers.
Warren C
Age range 18 - 25
He's a top man, in his dreams, with his words being bigger than his actions. Warren has the gift of the gab but has very little to back it up. He's a lover not a fighter although he wishes it was the other way around. He has a tendency to tick from Kush and not pay up, so he's keeping his curtains closed and his phone off.
Lauren Paul (Recurring)
Age range 18-24
Lauren is Warren's girlfriend and Kelsey's old friend. She's also a young mum who is more likely to leave her son with his nana than stay in watching Doc McStuffin. She's mouthy, unafraid and in need of a rearrangement of her priorities.
Tyree Joseph
Age range 18 - 22
Aka Trigs, Tyree is part of Kush's crew and Jerome's friend. He is too fast and blunt with his mouth which always gets him into some sort of trouble. He rates himself highly among his peers but finds himself looking for approval from his slightly older brother, Budd.
Daniel Harris
Age range 18 - 25
Daniel is the mysterious boyfriend of Paula, never showing his face when she needs him. He's insensitive and tends to show apathy towards her, nicknaming her midnight because he is lighter skinned. He's a serial cheater, a slow talker who regards himself as charming, but he has a secret, in that he's connecting with someone she knows which could ruin everything.
