A young man reveals to his girlfriend he has been raped by another woman.

The final film will be around 7 minutes. Auditions will take place from the February 1st, and weekly rehearsals from February 8th (at least three sessions before shooting). Shooting will take 2 days: February 27th and 28th, and will take place in Edinburgh.

This is a short student film exploring the relationship of a young couple, who are at the verge of moving in together, when one of them reveals a big trauma. What happens next is a reflection of society's behaviour towards male rape: instead of giving the guy the comfort and understanding he deserves, his girlfriend finds it hard to believe him. She is not convinced by his explanation and sees his trauma as cheating.

The film is not so much about the rape itself and we don't intend to show the event in my film. Instead we want to focus on the relation between two people after one of them reveals he has been raped, and how this changes the dynamics in an intimate relationship - both physically and mentally.

There are a lot of myths surrounding female-on-male rape. A common misconception is that only men can rape women. We all know that a man can rape a woman or another man, but it also possible the other way around. With this film we want to raise awareness for this problem. Our aim is not to hurt or shock, or necessarily entertain, but to inform people and to make them think about their attitudes. To ensure we make a credible and realistic film we have spoken with male victims of rape and corresponded with SurvivorsUK, a rape crisis centre in London.
