Lead actor needed for emotional quasi-musical film-short about opera-singer-turned-vicar
Job ID: 11187
Job Specifics:

Details:
PLOT OUTLINE FOR JIM WATSON: Jim Watson, in I’LL WALK WITH GOD (a quasi-musical), is an American-born country vicar in an English country parish, is an ebullient, dynamo of a man whose raison d'être is to follow his passions, try to do some good in the world and enjoy life to the full. In his native Philadelphia he was a rising star of the city’s renowned opera company. But the heady world of La Bohème and My Fair Lady cannot feed the altruism that drives him on and he begins a new life as a priest in England. The Reverend Jim Watson will always sing – he is known as “The Singing Vicar” and sings at charity events, church fetes and at am-dram concerts – but in the process, soon after being widowed, he is working in his allotment (his passion) when he meets Emma, a woman who changes his life forever.
SINGING: Opera-singer-turned-vicar Jim Watson will sing several numbers in the film, ranging from “On the Street Where You Live” (My Fair Lady) and the Neapolitan song “Come Prima” to the sacred “Ave Maria” and “The Lord’s Prayer” and the film’s title song. The songs are pre-recorded and so while the actor playing Jim will not be required to exercise his musical vocal chords, it is essential that he can convey the energy and emotion of an operatic voice through facial and body language...opera singers do not simply open their mouths and out comes this beautiful, powerful sound! The facial colour of beetroot springs to mind.
ETHNICITY: As Jim Watson hails from Philadelphia, the white Caucasian actor playing him should be either 1. an American “born and bred” or 2. a non-American who can convincingly play and maintain an American accent throughout filming.
