Dr. Triona Fitton (Female aged 25 to 40) was a chief engineer at the International Space Agency, designing systems for Mission Control. Intelligent and principled, she quit over their decision to use propulsion engines that would further harm the Earth\'s climate. She is called back to the ISA as the last person left who can keep Mission Control running, as the colony ships launch and the Earth heads towards climate catastrophe. Her ex-fiancé is captain of the lead colony ship. Their breakup is told in flashbacks.

Lucas Barnes (Male aged 25 to 40)is the captain of the lead colony ship taking humanity to the stars just before the Earth is destroyed by environmental catastrophe.
