Our film Mater Mortem is an intellectual ghost story, ridden with hauntology and psychoanalytical concepts, supported through a non-linear narrative. The story circulates around a beautiful grim reaper-style character who travels through time and the intricacies of limbo, searching for her deceased son. Through this, she finds herself reaping a long line of suspicious deaths, each one edging her closer to finding her son.
Lila Barren (female 20-30)
The only one to have escaped jaspers murder spree. Lila is pregnant in 1919 as she watches her husband and her best friend be murdered in front of her. But mater mortem takes pitty on Lila and her unborn child and helps her to escape.
