Dr. Dee: A True and Faithful Relation.
Mathematician, astrologer, astronomer, alchemist, occultist, philosopher, spy and advisor to Queen Elizabeth I.
John Dee operated in the late 16th century, a time of which science and magic were considered by many to be one and the same. Dee knew the universe had endless secrets and set himself on a path of enlightenment in a direction that could never be fulfilled.
Encouraged by the delusional conman, Edward Kelley, Dee would invest the last decades of his life into a fruitless process. An attempt to establish a connection and channel of communication with spirits and angels.
“Dr. Dee” will be a representation of the process of evocation (communicating with spirits) and a summation of John Dee’s life and work. The intent to create an absorbing and engrossing depiction of the process as Dee and Kelley describe it.
