PEEL Talent are looking for experienced entertainment managers who are looking for a new and exciting challenge, working on board our fleet of cruise ships as a Cruise Director/Assistant Cruise Director.
Previous experience in an entertainment management role is essential. Previous cruise experience is desirable however not essential as training will be provided.
Our Cruise Directors and Assistant Cruise Directors have a hugely important role. They are the voice and face of the ship, managing the delivery of the first rate entertainment product maintaining the standards as required by PEEL and Thomson. You must be able to motivate and lead the team in order to achieve the best results exceeding the passenger expectations.
Specific responsibilities include:
Cruise Director:
• To oversee, direct and delegate (where appropriate) the operation of all facets of passenger entertainment and activities, to ensure a high quality cruise experience. Areas of responsibility include all shows, guest and resident entertainers, stage management and technical support, all musicians, hosts and lights ents programme, children’s hosts and entertainment programme, cabarets, night-club entertainment, secondary lounge entertainment, Cruise News, dis/embarkation, and revenue generation
• To manage and oversee the scheduling of passenger entertainment and activities, taking full account of passenger profiles, nationalities and ages and ensuring that the specified schedules are fully publicised via the Cruise News and any other on-board marketing tools and delivered accordingly
• To perform a senior management role, carrying out company policies and directives and ensuring that the programmes as specified or approved are delivered according to PEEL standards
• To provide direct line management to Assistant Cruise Director, Show Team Leader, Senior Technician, Dance Captain, Chief Kids Host, Band Leaders and Guest Acts
• To provide team leadership and ultimate line management to all entertainment staff, including the show team, lights ents hosts, technicians, children’s hosts, musicians and guest acts
• To act as a figurehead for the entertainment team and to lead by example, providing motivation and support
• To provide appropriate visible leadership of and responsibility for all entertainment operations to passengers
• To undertake quality control of all entertainment on board and report to PEEL thereon
• To plan and organise the preparation and delivery of new entertainment and activities as instructed by PEEL
• To take a key role in further developing the PEEL entertainment product, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement and offering, wherever possible, to lead new innovations in entertainment, both in development and in practice on board
• To supervise and/or carry out disciplinary procedures wherever necessary
• To liaise and meet with departmental heads on-board regarding entertainment operations
• To promote revenue generating opportunities with the aim of maximising on board revenue, in full liaison with the Hotel manager and Heads of Departments
• To ensure that all entertainment and activities on board under the management of PEEL are carried out according to PEEL company policy, ship’s rules and regulations, health and safety guidelines, national laws of ports visited and customs regulations
• To oversee the correct usage and storage of all entertainment resources, reporting any faults, damage and/or replacement requirements to PEEL
• To supervise the roles of Entertainment Team members in fire, safety and lifeboat drills as directed
• To carry out all necessary appraisals and performance reviews within the department
• To attend all Departmental and Captain’s meetings as required
• To make all public address announcements as required
• Responsible to ensure the Cruise News and all on-board entertainment communications are accurate and correctly presented
• To read and fully understand PEEL Artist and Contractors handbook and ensure that entertainment team are aware of the policies and procedures
• To carry out all performance responsibilities to the high standard expected by PEEL
• To carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by PEEL
Assistant Cruise Director:
• To assist the Cruise Director in overseeing, directing and delegating (where appropriate) the operation of all facets of passenger entertainment and activities, to ensure a high quality cruise experience. Areas of responsibility include all shows, guest and resident entertainers, stage management and technical support, all musicians, hosts and light ents programme, children’s hosts and entertainment programme, cabarets, secondary lounge entertainment, Cruise News, dis/embarkation, shore excursion organisation and revenue generation
• To assist the Cruise Director in overseeing the scheduling of passenger entertainment and activities, taking full account of passenger profiles, nationalities and ages and ensuring that the specified schedules are fully publicised via the Cruise News and any other on-board marketing tools and delivered accordingly
• To perform a management role carrying out company policies and directives and ensuring that the programmes as specified or approved are delivered according to PEEL standards
• To provide direct line management to Senior Ents Host, Show-team Leader, Chief Children’s Host, Senior Technician, Dance Captain, Band Leaders, and Guest Acts when required
• To provide team leadership and secondary line management (secondary to the Cruise Director) to all entertainment staff, including the show team, hosts, technicians, children’s hosts, musicians and guest acts

• To actively liaise with the Senior Ents Host, Senior Tech, Band Leaders, Chief Children’s Host to jointly co-ordinate and schedule activities in conjunction with the entertainment onboard
• To assist the Cruise Director to promote revenue generating opportunities with the aim of maximising on board revenue
• To ensure that all entertainment and activities on board under the management of PEEL are carried out according to PEEL company policy, ship’s rules and regulations, health and safety guidelines, national laws of ports visited and customs regulations
• To oversee the correct usage and storage of all entertainment resources, reporting any faults, damage and/or replacement requirements to PEEL
• To assist the Cruise Director to supervise the roles of Entertainment Team members in fire and lifeboat drills as directed
• To assist the Cruise Director with all necessary appraisals and performance reviews within the department.
• To organise and oversee embark and debark procedures for entertainment department
• To read and fully understand PEEL Artist and Contractors handbook and ensure that entertainment team are aware of the policies and procedures
• To attend or schedule meetings within entertainment department as and when required
• To carry out all performance responsibilities to the high standard expected by PEEL
• To carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by PEEL
