Project Description:

Carly lives on the Gambier Housing Estate in Hackney, an inner city council project blighted by frequent reports of extreme violence and anti-social behaviour. Set in London’s urban east end – the local area is plagued by monetary conflict, racial prejudice and social deprivation.

Having just been made redundant from her job, this latest round of staff cuts promises to have serious repercussions for Carly.

Staring into the eyes of financial desperation, Carly is seduced by local pusher and love interest Demetrius into a life of drug trafficking. Thrown in at the deep end, Carly is summoned to long days and long nights distributing illegal substances to keep her head above water.

A small ray of sunshine in her life is long time companion and fellow estate resident Andre. They have been friends for as long as either can remember, but when Andre becomes aware of Carly’s recent lifestyle changes, an argument breaks out, which threatens to bring their lifelong friendship to an end.

Things go from bad to worse when Carly visits Demetrius and delivers news that she has lost a substantial amount of drugs.

Following a devastating sequence of events, Carly turns to alcohol in her moment of need.

Still disillusioned by the breakdown of her and best friend Andre’s relationship, she makes contact with him and reveals some horrific details.

With tensions irreversibly raised between Andre and Demetrius, the stage is set for a violent conclusion, which will alter their lives forever.
