Black male actor for performance piece in multi media exhibit at Goldsmiths Uni
Job ID: 16446
Job Specifics:
Details:
Casting one actors for exhibition performance piece ‘Voices and I; home, diaspora and waste.’
Casting one Black male, between 20 and mid 30s.
The piece is a performance based multi-media production looking at the interplay of how LGBTQ+ identities are perceived within certain cultures and any links to notions of waste and impurity.
The performance is part of an exhibition in which every student on the MA Visual Sociology at Goldsmiths University will showcase their work.
The performance itself involves performing a script whilst sewing and stitching print-outs of words and phrases on objects like plastic bottles, clothes etc.
You will be sat at a table for most of the performance unless you would want to get up and sit on the table or walk around the table. We can discuss this more in person.
You do not have to know all the lines by heart on performance day (depending on how much preparation time you have BUT some knowledge of the script is essential though due to quality of performance) as the script will be a prop based on the table. The performance will be filmed for future reference and possibly to create a visual piece out of it.
This job is paid and you will also get lunch and dinner.
Exhibition times are Friday April 5th between 1 – 5 pm (you are not required to perform for the whole 4 hours within this window as teaching staff will only be present during this time, examining the exhibition pieces) and 5 – 10 pm; exhibition open to the public (you would be required to perform during this time with breakers of course, which we will discuss in person).
