"The Five-One" is a drama with elements of comedy. It follows a punk band obsessed with the 1970s punk scene, trying to revive the genre. The three teenagers weren't having the best luck, struggling to get more than a dozen people to make up an audience. After a show, they are approached by a manager who promises fame and success but at the price of them changing their image to a pop band, more suitable for the radio. This brings up conflict within the band when they have to decide whether to try and chase their dream or to sell-out. Ultimately they choose to turn down the offer and make music on their own terms. The film ends with the band hearing themselves on a small radio station and playing to a small but full venue- smaller successes but growth they earned on their own.
