Logline
4 friends on the last day of University share a drink and talk about the future, however, the future isn’t so clear for one of them.
Personal Statement
As a highly motivated and hardworking individual, I will see ‘Ladders’ through to the final cut. I’ve gained invaluable experience with directing 2 short films and want to direct 2 more shorts before I shoot a feature-length film in January 2023.
Format
The audition is not performance-based, it’s just a way to get to know each other and see if we can work together. It will consist of an informal chat about ourselves and any thoughts on the script and characters. It will be held at a coffee shop near you or in town.

We will first have a group table read, where, after we will discuss the story and characters. Then, we will have an on-set group rehearsal, where we go through blocking and staging. Finally, we shoot.
Most roles will only require the actors to be on set for a couple of hours. The lead role will require about 6 hours of on-set shooting spread over about 15 days.

No salary, however, meals, drinks and snacks will be provided on set and for rehearsals.
Travel expenses and taxi fares will be compensated for cast and crew.
A copy of the film will be provided to everyone involved in production.
The film will be submitted to film festivals.

Character roles
The roles are not gender or ethnic-specific, however, because it is set at University all the parts are for actors between 18 and 30 years old.
Jordan
Jordan is struggling with the thought of leaving University and facing the outside world. All of Jordan’s friends seem to be moving forward with their lives, whereas, Jordan is content with being a student with no responsibilities or commitments.
Ashley
Ashley is keen on leaving shared student accommodation and wants to get on the property ladder as soon as possible. Owning a house is Ashley’s primary concern, as house prices only seem to be getting higher.
Blake
Blake is eager to leave behind University single life and is going to marry their partner of 6 months. Starting a family is priority number 1 for Blake, and the younger the better.
Cameron
Cameron is looking forward to earning some money and getting on the career ladder as soon as possible. Cameron is concerned with entering an already saturated job market; getting first out of the gates will mean they will win the race of life.
