Details:

We’re looking for actors for our short docufiction student film. Set in a future world in which men and women are segregated and traditional gender roles are taught and enforced at university, the film will explore two protagonists who try to break out of the system. The dialogue will be largely improvised, based on a working script.

1 female actor, acting age 18-24 - our female protagonist, attending the university in which her role as a woman is severely limited. She eventually breaks out and becomes part of a rebellion against the system

1 male actor, acting age 18-24 - to play our male protagonist who is initially complacent with the system - he ends up returning to the university regardless of his doubts, too scared to rebel

1 male actor, acting age 30+ - the dean of the university who is the personification of the system itself, responsible for enforcing it. He introduces the filmmakers to the world and disciplines the protagonists for breaking out of their assigned gender roles

1 male and 1 female actors, acting age 30+ - lecturers who teach single-sex classes that are specific to the traditional gender roles.

Cast of male and female extras for classes, 18-24

Auditions on Wednesday 28th February, at the Martin Harris Centre for Music and Drama, Bridgeford St. M14 9PL, Room F20 between 6-8pm

Filming to be scheduled between the 2nd and 22nd March and will be flexible. We will be filming mostly at the University of Manchester.

If you cannot make it to the auditions but would still like to be involved please let us know or send us a showreel
