I'm a student from West Suffolk College working on my Final Major Project. I am creating a short film about a young couple inviting a friend to their new, fancy house. Despite being impressed at first, the couple break into an argument and their guest becomes suspicious. Turns out they're hiding something.

The main character, Danny is the guest visiting his old friends Jamie and Lauren. He is very impressed and excited upon seeing the new house and hearing about the couples’ holiday plans. Although, once he notices how Jamie and Lauren distance themselves from each other throughout the night, along with Lauren trying to avoid communicating with Jamie, Danny becomes sceptical. Once he discovers that the pair do not really live in the house, he starts questioning Jamie and becomes aggressive. His aggression changes to fear as Jamie reveals what they did to the original owners, which leaves him petrified. Danny should be played by an 18-23 year old. Eye and hair colour are inessential to this role.

Jamie is the smug, pretentious ‘owner’ of the house, along with his girlfriend Lauren. They have been together since high school back when they became friends with Danny. Jamie often talks in a bragging manner about the house, their money, their holiday and their parents’ jobs in air travel and air traffic control. Also, he talks about how he spends a lot of time drinking exotic beers and wines and going to the bar to listen to a very talented woman sing karaoke. Lauren seems upset with Jamie from the start as she tries to avoid contributing to the conversation. Jamie should be played by an 18-23 year old. Eye and hair colour are inessential to this role. Jamie must dress in a somewhat smart/casual fashion as another example of his wealth and status.

Lauren is Jamie’s partner, who seems very nervous about inviting Danny round from the very beginning. Her uncertainty comes across in her tone of voice during the phone call that she makes when asking Danny to come and visit. She also has a largely unintelligible argument with Jamie just before Danny knocks on the door. Lauren is very quiet during Jamie’s materialism while he is talking to Danny and is instantly angered by Jamie stating that her mum makes over £90,000 per year. She shouts at him and storms off, later coming down while Danny confronts Jamie about who the house really belongs to. The aggression of the situation drives her to tears with her becoming more and more emotional throughout. Lauren should be played by an 18-23 year old. Eye and hair colour are inessential to this role. Actress must be convincing when crying on camera.
