A bit about the film:
‘That Lizard Laden Death Feel’ is a 10-minute absurd and magic realist drama about irrational anxiety and denial. In the film, a philosophy of art academic (DAVID) is disturbed by an upturned bowl brought home by his partner (GEN); he attempts to force himself to look underneath the bowl. The scenario explores the futility in suppressing knowledge we know to be true, regardless of the pain it inflicts.
David
Male
Age: 30 to 45
Ethnicity: White/British
Accent: Any British
Appearance: Intense eyes. Slim. Dark hair. Not conventially handsome. Clean-shaven.
David has a driven passion for his academic studies – he’s on the edge of uncovering something new. His introverted character lends to this prioritizing of his work that mainly consists of the solitary activity of reading and note-taking. He is very intelligent and loves fine art and delta blues. David has been in a relationship with Gen for a long time, married for 12 years, they get on admirably well. He loves her, they never argue, although he can occasionally be too blunt.
Gen (Genevieve)
Female
Age: 30 to 45
Ethnicity: White/British
Accent: Any British
Appearance: Blonde. Slim. Tall.
Gen is outgoing, hardworking and compassionate. She works hard all day in the laboratories – an intelligent and respected neuroscientist – and then loves to share a drink with her friends in the evening. More than anything she is devoted to David and loves him intensely, even idolizing him at times. Although she is always buzzing in and out of the house, whenever she is with him there is a huge warmth.
Tom Shennan (writer/director)
Tom graduated from Oxford University in 2013, and has since worked as a director at production company Inspiring Film, before enrolling in MA Film Directing course at Edinburgh College of Art in September 2015. He has written and directed a number of short films, including ‘MEATCHUTE’ which is currently being sent off to festivals. Most recently, Tom wrote and directed a film for the London 48 Hour Film Festival in October where he was nominated for ‘Best Screenplay’, won ‘Best Sound’ and ‘Best Prop’ and gained more nominations than any other of the 60 films.
The film is going to be shot 1st to 5th April 2015 in central Edinburgh.
