Call for Audition

Pitheid Productions have a show in May as part of the Southside Fringe Festival.

Strike A Light is a musical based on the inspiring Matchgirls strike of 1888.

Written by Fatima Uygun, Colin Poole and Jim Monaghan with music by Gavin Livingstone it tells a story in a rich mix of music hall songs, dance and politics, of how young female workers took on the bosses, and won.

Rehearsals: March to May 2015.

Performance Dates: May 19th to 23rd 2015.

Venue: Govanhill Baths, Calder Street, Glasgow.

Cast

KATHLEEN- 16-20`s, matchgirl,cockney accent.

MARY- 16-20`s, matchgirl,cockney accent

BURLINGTON BERTIE- 30-50`s male dressing female singer/compere , cockney accent

FATHER- 40-50`s father to Kathleen and Tom, Irish or Cockney accent

SCABBIT- 30`s -50`s, foreman at factory,cockney accent

TOM- 20`s- 30`s, brother to Kathleen, dockworker, cockney accent

BRYANT and MAY 30`s -50`s, co-owners of the factory, English upper-class accents

In addition we require;

3 x Matchgirls, 16-20`s

2 x Hecklers, male,cockney accents, any age

2 x Males, cockney accents, any age

Audition Piece

Please prepare a three minute contemporary speech and a well known two minute song from a musical that you can sing unaccompanied.

Auditions will be held at Govanhill Baths on Saturday 28th February and Sunday 1st March.
