We are looking for 4 actors to join our production for a multi-day shoot (Will be shot in May - dates to be arranged ) in Manchester. This short will be submitted to festivals. This is NOT a paid job, however we will pay expenses and provide catering. A group script reading is required.

Tough Love :

Hot shot private detective, Harry Booker, is ordered by a local gangster to follow his wife and find out who her lover is. Only in the detective world, things are never that simple...

ROLES:

HARRY BOOKER (Age 32):

Street smarts, natural charm and confidence are musts for any private detective, but Harry’s fatal flaw is, and always has been, women. He’s the type of guy that will walk into a bar, meet a girl, flash a dazzling smile and he’s set for the night - but this has left to life of one night stands, week long relationships, going from hang over to hang over and never having any solid ground to form a life on.

Brought up by his mother since his father left, her brother - a policeman - was the ideal father figure for Harry to admire and learn from. He had the smarts and physical condition to join the police and he achieved his dream. If it wasn’t for a dare on the eve of graduation, where he slept with his supervisor’s daughter, got caught and was thrown out of the force. He made great friends on the force, (Harry’s social skills are fantastic) but he still remains bitter about the subject.
Disillusioned, he became a private detective because he thought it was the next best thing (too many films) - little did he know he would spend his time doing divorce work, following paranoid husband’s wives. He does have a soft spot for those who are being cheated on but it’s more pity than actual sorrow.

BILL HANSON (Age 53):

A gruff heavy set who scraped his way to the top of one of Salford’s local gangs ,The Orel Street Crew. Although they’ve never been in the same league of notoriety as the Kray twins, the Noonans or the Quality Street Gang they still command considerable respect amongst the Salford terraces and estates.Although many see Bill as over the hill and rooted in the old school he has resisted every challenge to his rule. However there are always those who are willing to take their chances against an old man who in their eyes is still clinging on to the past and is part of the last remnants of an old Britain.
He has been divorced once, when his long suffering wife, to whom he had been married for over 20 years would no longer put up with the late nights and his many affairs.

After going through a string of women, he met Lucy and became enchanted with her looks and how she made him feel younger. Only short period after getting married Bill went back to his own ways. Although himself a cheater, he will not tolerate being the cheated and is more than willing to dish out retribution if need be.

LUCY SHEPARD (Age 27)

Lucy is a good time girl laced with a raw sexuality which she uses to her advantage - be it getting free drinks, lines in clubs or just being able to manipulate men to do her whim. An expert on the game, she knows how to play and if she’s getting played.

That was until she met Bill, she quickly become enthralled by what Bill could offer and sheaccepted his hand in marriage. After the honey moon period they started to become estranged. Although worried about Bill’s position in the local community she started to see other men

LIAM (Age 34):

Brought up in the rough estate in Salford, Liam soon came into the contact with the criminal world and began performing petty crimes because he saw it as the only way he could achieve - he soon caught the attention of Bill, whom seeing his potential, brought him into his gang and started moulding him into a right hand man. Having said that Liam is no idiot he craves power and is willing to do just about anything to quench his thirst.
