Birthday Bash - Divorced parents lose their son as well as their minds on his birthday.

CHARACTER BIOS

LAURA – FEMALE - AGE: 35 - 45
Laura is the main character of the film, she is clever, a nurturer and organised although when behind closed doors she barely makes an effort. Jackson is her son and her life and she gave up her dream career to look after him. She dislikes Gary her ex-husband who is Jacksons father, they had a messy breakup 2 years ago and have never seen eye to eye since. Gary is always late to pick up Jackson and today of all days this leads to awful circumstances, Jackson goes missing and they viciously blame each other with an explosive outcome. This is the biggest argument they have ever had, their worry for their son goes into overdrive and they are at each others throats.

GARY - MALE - AGE: 35 - 45
Gary is the protagonist in the film, due to his tardiness Jackson goes missing.
Gary is an recovering alcoholic and is resentful to his ex wife for keeping the family home, being the bread winner and for having an affair which was the catalyst for their breakup. The highlight of his week is having Jackson, but he despises having to interact with his ex wife Laura; they argue every time they see each other. He misses her but they hurt she caused him is too much for there ever to be a reconciliation. This is the biggest argument they have ever had, their worry for their son goes into overdrive and they are at each others throats.

JACKSON – YOUNG MALE – AGE: 5-7
Jackson is a young boy who’s sometimes naughty and doesn’t listen to his parent’s instructions, he’s witty and loves gadgets and today is his birthday. He’s extremely excited to see his Dad because he gets to spend the whole weekend with him and he gets another gift. He is unaware of the distaste his parents feel for each other but feels loved by both of them and misses them each time his apart from either. He is enthused when the doorbell goes while his Mum Laura is out of the room and presumes it’s his Dad Gary, but it’s even better than that.

POSTMAN – MALE – AGE: 25-60
The postman an integral part of the story due to being the only person present when Jackson goes missing, but has no speaking lines. The perfect candidate would be a postman who has their own Royal Mail uniform/similar.
