Details:

Radiosonic Workshop is currently producing a series of unofficial, fan-made audios based on the BBC Webcast, Scream of the Shalka (which was written by Paul Cornell, and starred Richard E. Grant, as the Doctor, Derek Jacobi as the Master, and Sophie Okonedo as the companion, Alison). Our series will run to 7 episodes, with a contained arc.

You can find out more about us and our series in our podcasts, which are available to download in iTunes or stream through Soundcloud. Search for ‘Radiosonic’ in both.

We are currently attempting to cast episode 5, which takes place in modern day Kansas. A group of disgruntled Kansas University football fans are attempting to summon eldritch powers to help them defeat their rivals, Kansas State. The Doctor and his friends must stop the cult before the Daemons (last seen in the titular 1971 episode of Doctor Who) they’ve summoned destroy the entire world.

The Matriarch is the spiritual leader of the cult. She is a larger than life Doctor Who baddie – whose goals happen to include a victory at the Sunflower Showdown. We’re looking for an American actress ideally over the age of forty (or one who can sound like she is) for this part.

Time commitment:
• There will be one table readthrough over Skype with the main cast of about 3 hours – this may potentially take place on Sunday the 22nd of January, 7pm GMT, but can be re-scheduled.
• Ideally, depending on time, one three-hour recording session, with the director and other members of cast. Alternatively several smaller recording sessions. All of these will be conducted over Skype.

If we want to call you back (it\'s possible we will just offer parts based on these initial readings) that would also take place via Skype.

To audition for this part, please record the following section of dialogue using a programme such as Audacity (which is free) and upload the finished file to a streaming site (i.e. Soundcloud) or an upload site (i.e. Megaupload, or Sendspace). Please include a link to your recording in your reply to this listing.

If you have any questions about any aspect of the process, please ask and they will be answered asap.

Thank you,

The Radiosonic Production Team

==AUDITION DIALOGUE==

My family has been going to the college since 1865. Our blood sings with the call of our mascot, and we count our age by the semesters and the victories of our athletics department.

In reply to: AMANDA:
You even saved all those cardboard paper collages I did for your birthdays when I was a kid. And the magazine articles my mom clipped for you. And the basketball that my brother punctured when he was trying to shoot hoops next to the thornbush.

MATRIARCH:
(impatient) All memorabilia is important to the truly faithful, Amanda.

Oh, Amanda, we have achieved victory over our enemies time and time again. Have you forgotten the Sunflower Showdown? The many times that we have ground University of Kansas into the dust and claimed our forfeit from their despair?
