By the Bay is modern take on the love triangle that follows three childhood friends contending with their emotions as romance begins to affect their feelings for one another. On their first holiday away from home, the friendship between Sam, Alexandra and Connor reaches a turning point as they struggle to communicate their feelings to one another. Can Sam, Connor and Alex continue to be friends or will romance see the sun set on their childhood friendship?

We are look for three actors around the age of 18 to play the roles of Alex, Connor and Sam. The film will be shot in Scotland in early August with auditions taking place in Glasgow, 21-23 May.

Characters

Sam

Quiet and unassuming but smart and funny. Sam has had numerous short-term girlfriends, always blaming the girl or his own desire to be single as the reason for breaking it off. Deep down he knows he’s always wanted to be with Connor. He’s distraught when he begins to see there’s romance developing between Connor and Alex and doesn't know what he can do about it.

Alex

Warm, friendly and compassionate, Alex always had potential romance with Connor in the back of her mind but values the friendship of the group over thoughts of anything more. A recent bad relationship has seen her reevaluate her view and has started to see Connor as a romantic partner.

Connor

Full of confidence, often the centre of attention but can also be equally naive and childlike, characteristics that make him popular with most people. Has had a string of girlfriends but hadn’t really considered Alex in that way. He’s seen her as more of a sister than anything else but has recently started to see her in a new light and is considering pursuing his feelings for her.

All of the characters are 18 years old and this is crucial, so your acting age range must include 18. We have no preference for ethnicity of characters, anyone from any background can apply.

Auditions

Auditions take place Saturday 21st, Sunday 22nd and Monday 23rd May in central Glasgow.
