Employment History & Experience
Early work in school productions of 'Grease,' 'The Wiz' and 'Dracula Spectacula' led Anu to complete an A-Level in Drama and Theatre Studies, where she was trained in a variety of performance styles including Brecht, Complicité Physical Theatre, Lecoq Mask Work and the Stanislavski Technique. Aristophanes' 'Lysistrata,' Sarah Kane's '4:48 Psychosis,' Shakespeare's 'Henry IV: Part 1,' and Knee High's 'The Red Shoes' were just some of the texts she performed amongst a number of devised works.
Whilst completing a degree in BSc Psychology at University College London (UCL), Anu continued to pursue acting as a member of the UCL Musical Theatre, Drama and Film Societies. Here she gained experience in competitive casting, fighting for roles in 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,' 'Chess' and 'Gut Girls,' and received recognition for her performance as 'Riley,' in a production of Jason Robert Brown's 'Parade' at the Bloomsbury Theatre.
To foster more nuanced, naturalistic acting, Anu then completed an Acting for Film Diploma at the New York Film Academy. She developed techniques in Scene Study, Monologue Performance and Improvisation, and worked closely with Blanche Baker to explore the use of the Meisner Technique for camera work. Here, she collaborated with Film Making students on a number of short films across silent 32mm and scripted digital mediums before continuing her film work in London, starring in 'Bicycle,' which was shortlisted as a finalist at the Campus MovieFest.
Currently a member of the National Youth Theatre, Anu aspires to transform her love of performance into a full time profession as a working actor, where she may have the opportunity to play more diverse, challenging roles across all acting mediums and genres. She also looks forward to continue training with the New York Film Academy in the future, where she holds a Scholarship for the school's Acting for Film Conservatory in Los Angeles.
