About Me

Do you remember the first movie that actually left you speechless and shattered? That at the end of the movie, you had this hollow feeling in your stomach? I do. La Vie en Rose with Marion Cotillard as Edith Piaf. What impressed me greatly about the movie is its ability to make me laugh, cry, be happy, be sad, be frightened all within the span of two hours. The capacity to affect someone in such a way has always intrigued me immensely.
I have loved movies and theatre since before I can remember, but my interest and passion for performing became obvious when I was about 15 years old. It all began when a prestigious festival of young theatre took place in my hometown. I was a volunteer for two years. That was when I first noticed how actors prepare for their stage performance, how a character is built and how important are the rehearsals for the play. I believe that the most valuable thing that I learnt from this experience is how important is being organized and how effectively was working in groups.
As my love for drama started to blossom after this experience, my father offered me for my 18th birthday a two-week drama camp in Los Angeles. Building characters, breathing exercises and singing lessons are just a few of the activities we did there, and a great focus was placed on the importance of working in a team. I also had the opportunity to work with people from all over the world, from Brazil and China to Mexico and Russia, learning thus to discover and appreciate other people’s cultures and view on life. That’s when my passion and ambition to learn new languages flourished so I started studying Spanish and Portuguese on my own by watching movies and listening to music and then translating them in English.
After that drama camp in USA, I started to go there every summer, having different jobs. From drive-thru order taker, sales associate to receptionist, all of my jobs taught me a valuable lesson: be kind, humble and never forget to smile. I wasn’t sure at the time how my experiences there would have an impact in the future, but they definitely helped me grow into a more mature, responsible and independent woman. I learnt how to live on your own, to manage my savings and how to adapt to any unpredictable situations.
I owe my strength, fight spirit and the ability to overcome difficult situations to my short career as a tennis player. I played different nationals and international competitions for over 6 years, from the age of 11 to 17 when I had to give it all up due to a serious knee injury. That was a difficult moment for me, but at the same time I was taught that you can always start over and, as cliché as it sounds, work hard for what you want because it’s not going to come to you without a fight.
To conclude, I believe that the different mix of skill development, academic study, motivation, and commitment that your university offers to its students will allow me to realize my career ambitions. I can safely say that after many years in which I tried to find myself and to know myself better, I truly believe this is the right path for me.
